Block Club Opening (June 2022)

This Irving Park hangout has become the center for Local Universe's more bexciting and experimental ideas. Specializing in comedy the space's unique venues inspire vibrant programs and community. Color Club is lovingly owned and operated by husband and wife team, Josh Dihle and Abby Monroe. A refuge for artists in the city, Color Club's aim is to be a resource for the arts community of Chicago.

Josh is a professional artist and professor of painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Abby is a community engagement consultant and event producer. Together, at Color Club, they hope to provide a home for creative expression and meaningful gathering.

Built in 1922, the building that is now Color Club was first the meeting place of Chicago’s International Order of Vikings. The Latvian Community Center and Folk Art Museum took ownership in 1958 and have celebrated countless occasions within the building’s two ballrooms, tavern, museum and more.
